Mouth Guard somnipax shield (for Mouth Snoring)

  • Effective: Against mouth snoring (i.e., you only snore when your mouth is open).
  • How to Use: Quick and easy fitting to your teeth and jaw (by warming it up in a water bath and making a custom impression then). Before going to sleep, place the device between your lips and front teeth.
  • Slim Design: Focused on simplicity, this device is very easy to use. Made of thin and medical-grade synthetics, it is very comfortable to wear, no feeling of pressure.
  • Safe: No choking hazard. In the (unlikely) case of respiratory distress during sleep, the mouth guard is simply spit out.

Description

Product / Snoring Cause Fit

Snoring may have very different causes and there is no device that covers all possible snoring causes (don’t be fooled by those who claim otherwise!). Here’s a short guideline for the right product / snoring cause fit:

  • If you only snore while your mouth is open at night (i.e., you are a mouth snorer), then somnipax shield is the right device for you. somnipax shield blocks your mouth breathing and stops mouth snoring. If you also snore while your mouth is closed, somnipax shield is unlikely to help you.
  • If you breathe through the mouth because you have difficulties getting enough air through the nose, try using a nasal dilator (e.g., somnipax breathe) or nasal strips (oxyhero pull) first. If your snoring does not stop then, consider adding somnipax shield or a snoring mouthpiece (e.g., SomnoFit).
  • If you only snore while you sleep on your back (i.e., you are a tongue snorer), then a snoring mouthpiece such as SomnoFit is the right device for you. In this case, also a position trainer such as Nachtwaechter sleeping vest is a good solution for you.

Important Product Advice

Under certain conditions, the somnipax shield mouth guard may not be suitable for you, if you

  • wear braces in the mouth or jaw area,
  • generally have problems breathing through the nose,
  • suffer from acute inflammation or injuries in the mouth or dental region,
  • are under the age of 18.

In these cases, please contact us or consult with your dentist or ENT-specialist before you buy.

How to Use

Before using the mouth guard for the first time, you can fit it to your jaw and teeth. For that purpose, immerse the somnipax shield into warm water for a few seconds – so long until the material is easily moldable. You can check the water temperature by using the thermometer strips enclosed with the product. Carefully bite on the plate of the mouth guard. In doing so, the device should rest on your teeth’s surface. Close your lips and firmly press the lips and tongue against somnipax shield. This allows you to make a perfect impression of your jaw and teeth with the mouth guard.

somnipax shield should be worn during sleep on a daily basis. Take a few seconds to clean the mouth guard with cold water and then place it into your mouth. After use, rinse it again briefly. For further instructions, download the somnipax shield mouth guard insert here.

  1. 1 out of 5

Unfortunately, there is no change within my problem. I even lose the mouthpiece during the night. It fells (maybe because of my strong snoring) just out. It is a pity, I would have expected more after all the positive resonances.

  2. 5 out of 5

Pretty easy adaption of the mouthpiece, it did not feel unpleasant in my mouth, at all. In combination with the nose spreader, there was a reduction of my snoring but it did not stop completely. Nevertheless absolutely advisable!

In my case, the snoring mouthpiece in combination with the ClipAir nose vent worked wonders: The nightly snoring orchestra clearly reduced in the first night and after a 2-3 day acclimatization phase the result was even better. Thanks for that and the after sales support by the team in person of Dr. Wakonig and Mrs. Wolf, which I consider not to be a matter of course, which is why I find it even better.
    Thumbs up!

Very good instructions and easy to use. My snoring problem has improved dramatically, but unfortunately it has not been completely solved.

  5. 5 out of 5

The mouthpiece is comfortable to wear and has fulfilled my desire to breathe through the nose. Sometimes I snore quite easily, but this can be due to my physique. I can highly recommend the product. Note: When fitting, make sure that the teeth are not bit together.

Questions and answers of the customers

  1. A

The first question: A firm anchoring of the mouthpiece is not a prerequisite for effective application. Also, the risk of swallowing is very low, since the mouthpiece is too large. However, the mouthpiece may easily fall out of the mouth when it is loosely anchored during sleep and cause it not to act. You can test it yourself. If you can handle it well despite the looser fit described above, there is nothing to prevent an application in this form.

On the second question: On the material side, there is nothing to prevent multiple adjustments. The first three attempts at adaptation should not, as a rule, cause any problems. With each further adjustment, however, the risk increases that the wall thickness of the mouthpiece is no longer uniform in all places. In other words, the material becomes very thin (and can tear in the worst case) at the places where it is pulled or pressed most, while at other places it becomes thicker due to the accumulation effect.
